NBCLA investigates the nightmarish account of a family, represented by Jamie Goldstein, who hired a private medical examiner for a loved one, only to be scammed in her time of grief, along with numerous others, at the hand of a ruthless con artist.
When Alicia Nettleton’s mother passed away suddenly, and without obvious cause, at 55 years of age, she hired a death care professional to perform a private autopsy on her mother, to determine cause of death. After the man required payment up front, he then performed mysterious procedures upon the deceased and subsequently refused to provide the autopsy report. In the end, Nettleton’s mother was cremated, and by the time the autopsy report finally arrived, it was riddled with strange information and inaccuracies.
This is not the first time the private coroner has been in the public eye for his mistakes – in 2014, he provided uncredited “forensics expertise” for Michael Brown, garnering controversy.
