Attorneys from Arias Sanguinetti secured a record-setting $828 million settlement on behalf of 414 survivors of sexual abuse in Los Angeles County’s juvenile detention and foster care systems. This payout represents the largest per-survivor recovery in a sexual abuse case in U.S. history, with an average of $2 million per individual.
To try to pursue a better outcome for its clients, the firm chose to opt them out of a separate $4 billion global settlement involving over 11,000 plaintiffs, instead pursuing a litigation path they believed would better honor their clients’ experiences.
