Tesla has earned a reputation for flaunting public safety by regularly implementing dangerous new features. While Tesla collects enormous profits, the public suffers the consequences. Tesla has faced litigation for wrongful death, personal injury, and property damage as a result of this people-last approach.
Founding partner Elise Sanguinetti is among the leading experts in holding Tesla accountable. She has helped several clients who have made the courageous choice to take action against Tesla. Tesla has proven that it will only address the fatal issues with their vehicles if it affects them financially. The product defect attorneys at Arias Sanguinetti, led by Elise Sanguinetti are making sure that it does.
When do recalls happen?
Recalls at Tesla often happen only after safety issues arise. Tesla’s irresponsible engineering has led to a myriad of vehicle recalls. These recalls point to a fix-it-later approach, underlying the company’s lack of care for public safety.
The December 2023 recall of 2 million vehicles was the result of insufficient safety protocols in the company’s signature Autopilot feature, which led to several fatal accidents. Founding partner Elise Sanguinetti’s litigation played a major role in making this necessary recall happen.
This is only one of many recalls Tesla has had to issue. Other recalls include, but are not limited to:
- 1/9/2018: Airbags exploding during collisions, causing shards of metal to be propelled at passengers.
- 1/26/2022:Self-driving beta failing to stop at all-way stop sign intersections.
- 4/12/2022:“Boombox” function allowing sound to be projected outside of the vehicle during driving, obscuring pedestrian warning sounds required in electric vehicles.
- 4/17/2022: “Track mode” function causing vehicles to fail to display speed reading on the dashboard.
- 9/18/2022: Power windows not properly recognizing obstructions, risking serious injury.
- 2/14/23: Self-driving beta causing vehicles to fail to stop at stop signs, ignore speed limit signs, and continue driving straight in left-turn-only lanes.
- 7/13/23: Emergency braking system failing without alerting driver due to camera misalignment.
- 2/12/24: Warning light font size too small on the dashboard, making safety warnings unreadable.
Vehicle manufacturers who continue to blatantly risk public safety and who have caused catastrophic injuries or deaths must be held accountable for their negligence. Time and time again, Tesla knowingly pushes these vehicles into circulation before they are safe to operate. Tesla claims that these signature functions enhance road safety and the driver experience. The reality is that these vehicles often fail to function as advertised, making them perilous to operate.
Has Tesla been sued before?
Our product defect attorneys have brought many lawsuits against Tesla. Most recently, founding partner Elise Sanguinetti is pursuing a wrongful death lawsuit against Tesla on behalf of the family of a young woman who died when a Tesla vehicle using the dysfunctional autopilot mode crashed into her parked vehicle. Additionally, our attorneys have won damages against Tesla to compensate our client for their injuries caused by their Tesla vehicle’s airbags’ failure to deploy in a major accident in which the car was totaled.
In 2019, Ms. Sanguinetti pursued a lawsuit against Tesla when a parked Tesla vehicle with its doors open suddenly accelerated forward, pinning a pregnant woman against her garage wall. Her 2-year-old son witnessed the incident, and the mother delivered her baby prematurely due to her injuries.
How do I get compensation for my accident involving a Tesla?
Tesla is fully aware of the risks that their vehicles pose, and is, therefore, liable for any damages caused by these defects. If you have experienced serious personal injury or wrongful death due to defect, you deserve compensation.
We understand that it takes courage to challenge a large company like Tesla and that the prospect may be daunting. The reality is that Tesla has paid numerous settlements due to their defective vehicles, and we know how to make that happen.
You have a right to safety on the road. Tesla must be held accountable for their disregard for this basic right. Contact us now for more information.
