John Doe v. Doe City
Case Synopsis
Arias Sanguinetti represented a survivor who was sexually assaulted by a police officer during a ride-along as a minor in the late 1970s. Despite the passage of decades, the firm pursued justice in the face of immense evidentiary challenges. The officer who committed the assaultโand nearly all potential witnessesโhad since passed away. Just weeks before trial, we were able to locate a former supervisor who was still alive and able to provide critical testimony. This discovery shifted the case, leading to a $1 million settlement. While no amount can undo the trauma, the resolution offered long-overdue accountability for institutional failure and affirmed that it is never too late to come forward.
