AAJ’s Trial magazine ran an article highlighting Elise Sanguinetti’s work to end housing discrimination in homeowner’s agreements. Ms. Sanguinetti noticed seriously racist language from the Jim Crow era in countless homeowner agreements dating back sixty and seventy years. Due to the difficult bureaucratic process and red tape, the language has often been left in these contracts that new homeowners, many of whom are people of color, are forced to sign in order to purchase their house.
