Mayra Lupe Cruz
Mayra Lupe Cruz is a Legal Assistant at Arias Sanguinetti Trial Lawyers, based in the firm’s Southern California office. She supports attorneys and clients across personal injury, sexual assault, employment, environmental toxic torts and other complex matters. Her work includes case coordination, calendaring, preparing legal documents, communicating with clients, and coordinating with medical and lien providers.
Lupe began her career at Arias Sanguinetti at the front desk, where she was often among the first people clients and visitors encountered. The role also became her introduction to the day-to-day workings of a law firm. Curious about the documents and processes moving through the office, she regularly asked questions and used the experience to build her understanding of legal terminology and procedures. She later gained experience supporting intake before transitioning fully into her current Legal Assistant role.
Working across different roles and practice areas has shaped the way Lupe approaches client service. While assisting with elder abuse matters, she learned that effective communication often means adjusting to the individual client. For older clients who were less comfortable with technology, she would follow conversations with physical letters they could reference and take additional time to revisit information when needed. The experience strengthened her patience and reinforced the importance of recognizing the difficult circumstances clients may be navigating while also trying to understand an unfamiliar legal process.
Today, Lupe brings that same adaptability to her work across a variety of matters. She takes pride in being a resource for clients while helping attorneys coordinate the details necessary to keep their matters moving forward. Lupe earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Los Angeles, along with a minor focused on sociology, law and society. She was drawn to the legal field by an interest in advocacy and helping people who may not have a voice. Her studies also introduced her to environmental issues affecting communities near where she lived, sparking an interest that has since connected with her opportunity to assist with environmental matters at Arias Sanguinetti.
Outside of work, Lupe enjoys shopping and unboxings, attending baseball and basketball games, and interior decorating. She especially enjoys finding inspiration for her own spaces and putting together a room around a particular look or feel.
